Aircel, BSNL, Vodafone Leading Poor Quality of Mobile Services, Says TRAI Report

Aircel subscribers are facing poor quality service in Jammu and Kashmir, states a Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) report.
TRAI on Friday said Aircel, BSNL and Vodafone are leading poor quality of mobile services based on congestion at the Point of Interconnection (POI) between various mobile service providers in India.
To mention, the poor service by cellular operators in Kashmir has become irritant for the local populace. The service of cellular companies here has gone from bad to worse post floods with call drops, poor network signal becoming regular feature.

Incidentally, the report identified congestion issues with three telecom operators in four states. This indicates that TRAI’s reporting – based on input from telecoms – is highly ineffective and does not show the actual conditions of telecom services.
The TRAI report does not figure telecom operators such as Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, MTNL, Reliance Communications, Uninor, Videocon Telecom and Tata Docomo.
According to the TRAI report, Aircel customers are facing poor quality in Jammu & Kashmir telecom circle. BSNL wireless customers are facing poor quality of services in Haryana and Punjab.
Vodafone India, which is expanding its Capex (capital spending) in the country, is offering poor quality of services in Uttar Pradesh East. The TRAI report is based on cellular mobile service providers’ POIs congestion reports in October, November and December, 2014.
This report includes only the telecom service providers who do not meet TRAI’s POI congestion benchmark of more than 0.5 percent in any telecom service area.
TRAI said the number of POIs having congestion has increased from 4 POIs in September 2014 to 5 POIs in December, 2014.
Aircel has no POI congestion issue in October, November and December, 2014. Vodafone India has congestion in 2 POIs in October, 2014, 3 POIs in November and 3 POIs in December, 2014. – Communications Today Bureau
