BSNL’s Chairman and Managing Director Shri.Anupam Shrivastava told - “We
are in talks with various cable operators to use their access to each
and every household. It will be a profit sharing arrangement.”
Shrivastava
also said - "BSNL has already tested such a model in few locations and
is now seeking to expand the service across the country in the next
financial year i.e., in 2015-16."The last mile
connectivity of cable TV operators will be used with BSNL’s optic fibre
network to offer broadband at every nook and corner.
BSNL is focusing on data services such as WiFi, Broadband and 4G to increase their revenue flows. The company has been offering discounts for its landline and broadband services to attract subscribers.
Through National Optic Fibre Network (NOFN), the government already has plans to offer broadband services in rural areas. NOFN will connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats by December 2016 at an estimated cost of Rs 30,000-35,000 crore.
