TRAI Report Card February 2015: State run PSUs (BSNL & MTNL) leads in Wireline Services with 75.44% Market Share

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the latest telecom subscription data as on 28th February 2015. As per this report, the number of broadband subscribers increased from 94.49 Million at the end of January 2015 to 97.37 million at the end of February 2015 with monthly growth rate of 3.05%.

BSNL network clocks 200TB mobile data in 24 hours, achieves 100% mobile data growth in south zone

BSNL has announced that it has reach milestone of handling 200TB mobile data on a single day. BSNL had recently completed its network expansion across the circle which has helped achieve this mile stone.

As per BSNL, on 12th of April 2015 BSNL has handled a total of 200TB of data on its mobile network. BSNL also witnessed a steady growth of 65% year on basis. In south zone BSNL achieved 100% growth in mobile data volume. Out of the total revenue of BSNL, data constitute only 9% compared to industry average of 14-15%.

Recently concluded auction has redrawn the mobile spectrum map of India. The latest auction has paved way for entry of new 3G operator in at least 12 circles. Also operators are free to using 900MHz won in the auction for 3G service as the entire spectrum won in this auction is liberalized.
