BharatNet project hopes for boost with BBNL-BSNL merger

 The delay in the BharatNet project, aimed at connecting gram panchayats through broadband, has resulted in a cost escalation from Rs 20,100 crore to Rs 61,109 crore. This is partly due to the ineffectiveness of Bharat Broadband Network (BBNL), the entity set up to implement the project to connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats with optic fibre, for high-speed broadband connectivity.

 Chandigarh Crime: चंडीगढ़ पुलिस ने बीएसएनएल केबल चोरी के बड़े खेल का पर्दाफाश करते हुए चार शातिर चोरों को गिरफ्तार किया है। ये चोर पुलिस के सामने ही केबल तार चोरी कर चलते बनते थे और पुलिस को भनक तक नहीं लगती थी। चोरी की घटना को बेखौफ अंजाम देने के लिए इन्‍होंने बीएसएनएल अधिकारियों के नकली आईडी कार्ड भी बना रखे थे। पूछताछ होने पर ये पुलिस को अपना नकली आइडी कार्ड दिखाकर चोरी के सामान समेत फरार हो जाते थे।
