Strengths & Weakness of BSNL as per Tele-Density & Market Share of September 2014

As the market witnessed a growth of 6.32 million during September 2014, and also there was increase in telephone connections also of around 6.34 million connections. In total in India we are having around 958.2 telephone connections as on September 2014, but as per this new report BSNL is losing its market share in wireless telephony

BSNL, the major telecom giant, has got negative growth of 1 million telephone connections, along with that there was also increase in the Broadband Connections of around 0.03 million as of Aug 2014. As on date the total Broadband Connections in India is around 15.05 million.If we go to the telephone connections among the 958.2 connections of which BSNL is having a share of 104.1 million connections. With this BSNL is in 5th Position as an operator with market share of 10.86%. This is the pocket BSNL has to look in to as the % share is slowly going beyond BSNL, This month BSNL share was reduced by 0.2%, for this financial year, till date BSNL share was reduced by 1.3%. Furthermore with respect to the connections count lost, 1million connections for the moth of Sep 2014 and 9.1 million for the year 2014-15 till date.

If we go for wireless connections, here also BSNL is at 5th position with 9.32% market share, BSNL has lost 1 million consumers (0.2%) in the month of Oct 2014 and as on date for this financial year 2014-15 in terms of market share 8 million (1.2%). On the Other side wireless industry has grown by 3% while BSNL has declined its growth by 8.4%.

To the rescue of BSNL once again broadband is the snajeevani. BSNL, the No.1 Broadband service provider in India with a market share of 66.25%. BSNL has recorded a growth rate of 0.16% for the month of August 2014.

Out of all these BSNL being peoples player should move strategically to maintain positive growth in all types technologies keeping in mind that ,All private operators’ uses BSNL fibre and tower infrastructure and yield profits with all the infrastructure in place BSNL is Losing Market Share
